Well, Mason surprised us by arriving 4 weeks early. Even though he was that early he weighed in at 6 lbs. 13 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. He also gets to share his birthday with his Grandma Karen! We were not totally ready for him and were frantically running through the house throwing things in a bag once we realized we needed to go to the hospital. My labor was great and was surprisingly smooth for a first baby (at least that is what everyone is telling me). He was ready to come out even though we weren't entirely ready yet. Yes, I had an epidural and LOVED it! Who doesn't love their anesthesiologist? :-) Andy closely watched him put it in while trying to help keep me still.
Our first day went great! He has done a lot of sleeping and they say that is very normal of premie babies. He is off right now having his hearing and car seat test also. Any baby born before 37 weeks has to have a car seat test to show they can keep their oxygen level up when sitting in their seat.
We are hoping to go home tomorrow but they might not let us go until Friday.
We are so in love with our little guy and can't wait for everyone to meet him in person!!!
Beginning of labor, I was still feeling really good.
He was not a fan of being stretched out to be measured.
I am SO excited for you!!! Congratulations. He is precious!!! Now that I know you have a blog, I will be following from now on! YEA for baby Buchholz!!! Good job "Mom"!!!
